Creating Healthy Communities (CHC) is committed to preventing and reducing chronic disease statewide. Through cross-sector collaboration, we are activating communities to improve access to and affordability of healthy food and increase opportunities for physical activity where Ohioans live, work and play. By implementing sustainable evidence-based strategies, CHC is creating a culture of health.
Policy, System, Environmental Change (PSEC)
Policy, System, and Environmental change through the CHC program is a way of modifying the environment to make the healthy choice the easy choice for all Ohioans. This is accomplished by working on impactful, enforceable, and sustainable changes to rules or physical environments. For example, “Policy” might be an ordinance, resolution, guideline, or rule. A “System” might be a program, allocation of resources, or personnel. The “Environment” might be physical, social, or economic in nature. The following resources contain more information on PSEC and the public health framework for which the CHC program is rooted.
